I’ve been steadily hacking away trying to play catch up here lately. After my charging cord going out nearly two weeks ago, I’m getting back on track. Most importantly, finishing up Amina & Yakini’s engagement photos then will be moving on to this beautiful, young lady. Better late than never, when it comes to Senior Portraits (with barely a month of school left), I also had the pleasure of taking her older sister’s photos as well. Enjoy.

Amina & Yakini Engagement - 2013

I’ve known Yakini for going on 12 years now. She is a very dear friend of mine and we’ve been through many trials and obstacles in our lives together but somehow, we’ve always been able to stay in touch. When she introduced me to Amina, we clicked instantly. Both of these girls possess so much love and genuineness and you can see that in their smiles. I am so happy for these two. Their ceremony will be this September.

“Peace”

This week I had a great time photographing two friends of mine for their engagement photos. While walking around Little 5 Points (Atlanta, GA), I came across this little gem. Peace can be found at the most unexpected places. Mine is while I’m taking photos. It brings me peace in trying to find the perfect shot. Angles, lighting, aperture, ISO, shutter speeds all get me giddy and excited. This is truly a passion for me.

This week, I couldn’t decide between these two photos (and yes I’m posting rather late). However, both of them go hand in hand with one another. The top photo is my old 35mm camera that I always used throughout high school and a year or so after. With that camera is when I truly fell in love with photography. As for the second photo, I used to take a lot of photos of the train tracks. They still have a very dear spot in my heart. I love using them in photo shoots and think they add something special and rustic to the shoot.

Fetching Finds is based out of Smyrna, GA with a booth opening up at Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta, GA on February 1, 2013. Filled with little trinkets or big pieces of furniture that have been completely restored, there is something for everyone. (My fave piece: The white dry sink)

My first big project of 2013 (which technically “happened” the last few days of December) was shooting an article spread for David Atlanta (A weekly LGBT publication in Atlanta, GA [www.davidatlanta.com]). It’s been a great experience and I’m starting to learn a lot and get one step closer to my goals. I have a lot to learn and I have a lot to realize about myself. I need to find a perspective and stick to that. I’m very thankful for this experience and the criticism.

Over the last few months I’ve been too busy it seems to concentrate on what I love. Photography always gives me an outlet to express myself. It’s my opportunity to show the world how I see things. These past few days I got the opportunity to travel to Cherokee, NC and Gatlinburg, TN. The Great Smoky Mountains provide plenty of scenery and exciting trips through the mountain side. While on this trip, we pulled over into Cades Cove near Gatlinburg, Mingo Falls and the Alum Cave Trail (both near Cherokee). It was a great trip and allowed plenty of opportunities to continue my “Monkey Travels” Project with Spartacus.

2012 has definitely brought some amazing photo moments for my career and I’m looking forward to what 2013 will bring. Maybe I’ll get back into my 365 project or get some greater publicity. 2012 has been my best year to date and I can’t wait to look forward and continue photographing.

Weiland Family. 2012.

Lizzie is one of my good friends who is always a joy to shoot with. This time I got to meet her family and I’ll say this, they are amazing, funny and quite awesome. Three sisters, dad and mom; and of course, we cannot forget their beautiful dog, aka Toad.

We decided to shoot at Piedmont Park (Atlanta, GA) on a Fall, November afternoon. The weather happened to cooperate with us and we got some great shots in. I love this family and they were just so fun to shoot with and had me laughing the entire time.

It’s always fun revisiting some old photos and seeing how far along you’ve come in your editing skills. These photos were taken in Little Five Points right behind the Vortex Bar & Grill. I love this area. Graffiti, tons of thrift stores, great food, and fighting for parking.

Lizzie is a good friend I met through my high school best friend. The first night I met her, we all went and got pedicures. Ever since then, we’ve talked and we finally did a photo shoot. I miss this girl and would love to do photos again. I love her personality and her laugh is contagious.
